We are Goldfish Syndrome, a band of brothers & friends from Cork, Ireland. We sound like everyone & no one, having a huge range of influences between the 4 of us, somehow meeting in the middle when creating our music. Often they start out on a couch with just James, an acoustic guitar & an idea. Only later is it fleshed out in our studio to make it as good as it can be. Other times it comes from a riff, a melody idea or a beat, but anything really can lead to one of our songs. Our material can travel between unplugged subtlety, rousing festival anthems, straight up rockers with pop sensibilities & dance floor fillers with big sing along choruses. If you like The Cure, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, Oasis, Coldplay, R.H.C.P.,  The Coronas, 2 Door Cinema Club, Snow Patrol or U2, chances are you’ll like us too…
“You will not meet a nicer gaggle of lads, hard working and serious about their music, but with a sense of fun firmly secured in their performance. The lads are tight, both in their delivery and their friendship and their songs are well constructed pieces of gold, which contain the right amount of earworm magic, melody wise, to make the songs memorable. James, the front man, is well able to drum up even the smallest crowd into a roomful of hand-clapping teenagers, roaring along to the Goldfish Syndrome brand of rockpop.”

Right now, we’re meeting up, jamming, writing songs, developing new ideas & making demos. Just being a band. We love to create, so now is a great time for us.
Our journey to 2016 has been paved with a lot of experiences, tons of music, collaborating with other musicians, producers & engineers, recording & releasing music independently, going out on great tours at home & abroad, meeting new people, turning them on to what we do. Doing what every band wants to do really, just on our own terms. That’s the beauty of being a band in this day & age…
Until now, we got a 5 star review in France for our 1st E.P., “Timewarp”, our single “Where Have All The Good Times Gone?” was the opening track on a U.S. compilation called “Riot on Sunset” and our 2nd E.P. “Moving On” got airplay on Today FM and 2FM as well as being “Hot Press Pick of the Fortnight”.
Our debut album, “A Drug Called Tradition” was recorded at Mix-Box Studios in Germany with renowned producer, Larry Fricke at the helm. This was preceded by the single “Misty Morning”, an upbeat tune with a dark story behind it, which topped the iTunes rock charts.
The album was loosely based on a “Youth, Boom, Bust” concept inspired by the people and places around where we live. Reflecting the times, the songs take you on a journey from adolescence (In the End) through to the roar of the Celtic tiger (Charlie) and ultimately to the economic and social decline of the late 00’s (Pyro).
The video for our 1st single from the album, “Alleyways” was nominated for an Underground Cinema award and our music travelled as far as South Africa, being used in advertising campaigns for the tourism industry.
Our records are available through all major online retailers/streaming services but you can also get it directly from us, (which would be great BTW) from our website, www.goldfishsyndromemusic.com
“Listening to their music, the thing that strikes me is the seamless musical collaboration and the standalone voice of buttery confidence that serenades the audience with gravelly seductive manliness.
There is a presidential tone to the delivery of the lyrics that makes the music incredibly important and majestic while surprisingly remaining light and exciting.”
